Mobile Science Exhibition
Taking Science Beyond Classrooms
Tare Zameen Par partners with the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) to operate and manage 19 Mobile Science Exhibition (MSE) buses across India. The initiative brings interactive science experiences directly to schools and communities, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, making scientific learning more accessible and engaging.
Each MSE bus functions as a mobile science gallery, equipped with interactive exhibits, experiments and demonstrations that connect scientific concepts with everyday life.
What We Do in Schools
1. School Coordination & Setup: We coordinate with schools and facilitate the smooth arrival, positioning and operation of the Mobile Science Exhibition on the school premises.
2. Guided Exhibition Experience: Students are taken through the exhibition with the support of trained science communicators who explain the exhibits and relate them to concepts they encounter in their studies and daily lives.
3. Interactive Exhibits: Students interact directly with exhibits covering themes such as:
Energy
Health & Sanitation
Human Body & General Science
Electricity & Magnetism
Water & Chemistry in Our Life
Space Technology for Human Welfare
Machines in Daily Life
The themes vary across the different Mobile Science Exhibitions under the NCSM partnership.
4. Science Demonstrations: Our science communicators conduct demonstrations that help students understand scientific principles through observation and practical examples.
5. Hands-on Learning: Rather than limiting learning to textbooks, students are encouraged to interact with exhibits, observe outcomes and explore scientific concepts through experience.
6. Student Engagement & Questioning: The sessions encourage students to ask questions, discuss what they observe and develop curiosity about how scientific principles work in the real world.
7. Teacher Engagement: Teachers are also encouraged to explore the exhibits and participate in the learning experience, helping connect the exhibition with classroom learning.
Our Role in the MSE Programme
Our involvement extends beyond conducting school visits. Tare Zameen Par supports the day-to-day operation and management of the Mobile Science Exhibition buses.
Our responsibilities include:
Operations & Coordination: Managing the daily functioning and movement of the exhibitions.
Staff Training: Preparing and supporting staff to effectively communicate scientific concepts and engage with visitors.
Preventive Maintenance: Ensuring the exhibition infrastructure and exhibits remain functional, safe and ready for use.
Visitor Facilitation: Managing and supporting the visitor experience during school and community visits.
Content & Exhibition Upkeep: Supporting the upkeep and renewal of exhibition content to maintain an engaging learning environment.

A Learning Space That Comes to the School
For many students, access to interactive science exhibits can be limited by geography and resources. The Mobile Science Exhibition model addresses this by taking the learning experience directly to schools and communities.
Instead of students travelling to a science centre, science comes to them.
Through interactive exhibits, demonstrations and guided engagement, each school visit creates an opportunity for students to observe, explore, question and understand.
The Mobile Science Exhibition programme with NCSM demonstrates how science can be taken beyond conventional classrooms and made accessible to communities across India. Schools, government departments, CSR partners, and institutions are invited to collaborate and support the expansion of mobile science learning, bringing interactive and experiential education to more learners across the country.
